A Sneak Peak

Hello everyone, I’m writing a book, so I wanted to share a snippet of it with you! Here it is:

“Ma!” Paige yelled from the barn. “I’m gonna go for a walk in the woods”

“Okay, sweetie! Ma yelled back. “Just find some lavender so I can freshen up the house.”

“Yes ma’am!” I grabbed a handmade basket that sat by the chicken coop and ran towards the woods, breathing in the smell of pine needles and lavender. Lavender! Ma wants me to get lavender, I remembered. Carefully and slowly, I looked for lavender. There you are, I thought, and reaching down, I pulled it from the dark brown soil, and putting it in my basket.

Suddenly I heard a twig snap and a whimper. Bears don’t usually come around here, and it was too small to be a bear, so what was it?
